# Downloading .shp Files

Hi&nbsp;all,

This&nbsp;is&nbsp;a&nbsp;long&nbsp;shot,&nbsp;but&nbsp;I&nbsp;can't&nbsp;find&nbsp;a&nbsp;lot&nbsp;of&nbsp;info&nbsp;on&nbsp;this.&nbsp;&nbsp;I'm&nbsp;trying&nbsp;to&nbsp;load&nbsp;my&nbsp;maps&nbsp;to&nbsp;my&nbsp;Silverlight&nbsp;application&nbsp;via&nbsp;WebClient.&nbsp;&nbsp;This&nbsp;works&nbsp;perfect&nbsp;on&nbsp;my&nbsp;local&nbsp;machine,&nbsp;but&nbsp;doesn't&nbsp;work&nbsp;once&nbsp;I&nbsp;get&nbsp;it&nbsp;into&nbsp;production.&nbsp;To&nbsp;make&nbsp;a&nbsp;long&nbsp;story&nbsp;short,&nbsp;it&nbsp;seems&nbsp;that&nbsp;it&nbsp;boils&nbsp;down&nbsp;to&nbsp;IIS&nbsp;not&nbsp;being&nbsp;able&nbsp;to&nbsp;serve&nbsp;up&nbsp;the&nbsp;files,&nbsp;so&nbsp;I'm&nbsp;assuming&nbsp;it's&nbsp;MIME&nbsp;type&nbsp;related,&nbsp;but&nbsp;not&nbsp;positive.&nbsp;&nbsp;The&nbsp;reason&nbsp;I&nbsp;say&nbsp;this&nbsp;is&nbsp;I&nbsp;have&nbsp;attempted&nbsp;using&nbsp;WebClient&nbsp;to&nbsp;get&nbsp;a&nbsp;.txt&nbsp;file&nbsp;in&nbsp;the&nbsp;same&nbsp;directory&nbsp;and&nbsp;it&nbsp;worked&nbsp;fine.&nbsp;I&nbsp;can&nbsp;also&nbsp;download&nbsp;this&nbsp;.txt&nbsp;file&nbsp;in&nbsp;my&nbsp;browser.&nbsp;However,&nbsp;I&nbsp;cannot&nbsp;access&nbsp;any&nbsp;of&nbsp;the&nbsp;file&nbsp;types&nbsp;(.shp,&nbsp;.dbf,&nbsp;.shx,&nbsp;.idx,&nbsp;.ids)&nbsp;through&nbsp;WebClient&nbsp;nor&nbsp;can&nbsp;I&nbsp;download&nbsp;them&nbsp;via&nbsp;URL&nbsp;in&nbsp;my&nbsp;browser.&nbsp;&nbsp;Doing&nbsp;a&nbsp;search&nbsp;around,&nbsp;it&nbsp;seems&nbsp;the&nbsp;mime&nbsp;types&nbsp;are&nbsp;mostly&nbsp;supposed&nbsp;to&nbsp;be&nbsp;appication/octet-stream,&nbsp;but&nbsp;this&nbsp;still&nbsp;isn't&nbsp;working&nbsp;for&nbsp;me.&nbsp;&nbsp;Would&nbsp;anyone&nbsp;have&nbsp;any&nbsp;info&nbsp;on&nbsp;this?&nbsp;&nbsp;Thanks&nbsp;very&nbsp;much!

Dustin,&nbsp;  
&nbsp;&nbsp;  
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;I&nbsp;tested&nbsp;this&nbsp;out.&nbsp;&nbsp;First&nbsp;I&nbsp;tried&nbsp;to&nbsp;download&nbsp;a&nbsp;.shp&nbsp;file&nbsp;and&nbsp;it&nbsp;failed.&nbsp;&nbsp;I&nbsp;thien&nbsp;followed&nbsp;the&nbsp;directions&nbsp;on&nbsp;the&nbsp;site&nbsp;below.&nbsp;&nbsp;I&nbsp;added&nbsp;the&nbsp;‘.shp’&nbsp;and&nbsp;the&nbsp;‘application/octet-stream’&nbsp;to&nbsp;the&nbsp;Mime&nbsp;Types&nbsp;as&nbsp;per&nbsp;the&nbsp;screenshots&nbsp;on&nbsp;the&nbsp;link.&nbsp;&nbsp;I&nbsp;tried&nbsp;again&nbsp;and&nbsp;it&nbsp;it&nbsp;failed&nbsp;again.&nbsp;&nbsp;I&nbsp;restarted&nbsp;IIS&nbsp;and&nbsp;then&nbsp;things&nbsp;worked&nbsp;just&nbsp;fine.&nbsp;&nbsp;Maybe&nbsp;you&nbsp;need&nbsp;to&nbsp;restart&nbsp;IIS.&nbsp;

Great,&nbsp;thank&nbsp;you&nbsp;very&nbsp;much,&nbsp;David.&nbsp;I&nbsp;was&nbsp;trying&nbsp;to&nbsp;avoid&nbsp;restarting&nbsp;IIS&nbsp;because&nbsp;there&nbsp;are&nbsp;multiple&nbsp;sites&nbsp;on&nbsp;it,&nbsp;but&nbsp;if&nbsp;that&nbsp;solves&nbsp;my&nbsp;problem,&nbsp;I’m&nbsp;all&nbsp;for&nbsp;it.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;I’ll&nbsp;give&nbsp;it&nbsp;a&nbsp;shot!

&nbsp;&nbsp;  
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;No&nbsp;problem,&nbsp;this&nbsp;kind&nbsp;of&nbsp;thing&nbsp;always&nbsp;happens&nbsp;to&nbsp;me&nbsp;when&nbsp;setting&nbsp;up&nbsp;IIS.&nbsp;&nbsp;Furthermore&nbsp;you&nbsp;never&nbsp;know&nbsp;what&nbsp;changes&nbsp;are&nbsp;automatic&nbsp;or&nbsp;which&nbsp;need&nbsp;a&nbsp;restart.&nbsp;:-)&nbsp;
