I have an application built with the MapSuite Desktop Edition that uses shapefiles with the data in UTM. I need to be able to add a GoogleMaps layer and reproject the GoogleMaps layer to UTM. Is this possible? If so, is there an example of how to do this. Reprojecting the shapefiles from UTM is not an option. The application allows the user to capture a point from the map, and this capture point must be in UTM.

Thanks.

It is not possible to reproject Google Map to UTM. The whole tiling system that Google uses is based on the Spherical Mercator projection which fits well for the entire world. UTM is a for local projections. You say that ‘The application allows the user to capture a point from the map, and this capture point must be in UTM’. Can you explain with a little more detail your scenario? Nowadays, a lot of flexibility exists for doing projections and it might be possible to find a solution for your case.
