64 Bit Support

Hi,  does Map Suite 3.0 have support for 64bit?

We supported 64bit in 2.0 and forgot to set the compiling options for 64bit support for 3.0. We will add it and have a new version released soon.

Does this mean that it will have to be built as x86 but will work in a 64-bit environment, or that it will be a a 64-bit dll?  
  
 Also I see that MrSid 64-bit support is available from LizardTech. Will you be implementing this feature into the 3.0 version?

 It will be an x86 version but available for both x86 and x64. 
  
 We are very interested on MrSid 64bit but before we decide to implement into 3.0, we need to do some investigation and test. I don’t have the final words for now. Thanks very much for the info!

Was 64 Bit Support part of the latest beta release?  Is this for all versions including Desktop & Web Edition?

 The current Service / Desktop / Web Edition (3.0.131) have been tested under Vista Business SP1 X64, Windows XP Professional SP2 X64 and they are all work fine in our test. 


There are 2 notes about using under X64 system.
1, the compile platform should be selected to “x86”. Please see here for detail.
2, IIS configurations should be made to run 32bit assemblies (Map Suite Web Edition) as following.  


        
  1. Register CScript script engine. 


Open the “C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts” folder. Double click the “adsutil.vbs” file. There will be a register engine message box popped up. Click Yes to register CScript engine.
 

        
  1. Enable IIS6.0 to run 32-bit application.


Open a command prompt and navigate to the “C:\Inetpub\AdminScripts” directory, type the following command and press Enter:
cscript.exe adsutil.vbs set W3SVC/AppPools/Enable32BitAppOnWin64 “true”
 

        
  1. Register the 32bit ASP.NET extention to IIS.


In a command prompt, navigate to the “C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727” directory and run the following command:
aspnet_regiis.exe –i
This will install 32bit ASP.NET to IIS. You can see it in the IIS Manager. Click Allow to enable this ASP.NET extension. 

        
  1. Finally configure the properties and the permissions of the website and the map will display.
