ArcSDE layer support?

Hello,


We have a reasonable number of customers that use ArcSDE.  Is there any chance in your 3.0 version you guys will add support for SDE layers?  I think that is the one layer type I noticed you currently dont support in your new version that is pretty widely used.

 You guess right that we are going to support ArcSDE in the future. I’m not sure about the date, but I know it is on our list and we will focus on it soon.

Great, looking forward to seeing it.  Do you have any idea (nothing speific, just real big picture) of how soon it would be in there?  Next few months? by the end of this year? some time next year?

 In fact, we are going to work on it very soon, I think if everything goes well, we can have this feature added at the beginning of Q2. Hopefully, we can have it in the next version.

   I wanted to update you that this is being worked on right now. :-)  We have tried to get ArcSDE in house however our friendly ESRI dealer will not sell to us because we are on a competitor list.  This means we are a little blind in doing the work.  Our plan currently is to integrate support through FDO, see link below.  FDO is an abstraction layer to a number of GIS data formats and is used by AutoCad and AutoDesk and it seems solid.  We will continue to update you on the progress and share any code we have.  We may need you to try it out and let us know what happens. 
  
 I am not sure on the development time however if the package is done well it may not take long.  I also hear they have some managed wrapper APIs so that’s a big plus.

    The FDO package seems to be a little short on examples but we are moving along anyway.  I will update this thread again as we make more progress and are close to a release.  The good thing is since this has some dependencies we will release this as an extension.  This means we can bundle it up as soon as it’s ready for some beta testing and we don’t have to wait to bundle it with a formal release.

Hi guys, so, are there any signs on the sky, that arcsde support will be released soon? 
 My company is looking for some good .net gis library and arcsde support is one of our biggest needs.  
 Also, Postgis support is nice for me now in MapSuite ;)

   We are working to get the beta out in the next week or two.  At this point we can read data and are working out some small bugs.  If you are interested in this beta please contact your sales representative so they can add you to the beta list.

 Now we are busy working on the bugs and we want to integrate the ARCSDE support in the upcoming release, which will be available within this month. So just wait couple days and you will be able to use it hopefully.

Is ArcSDE support currently in the latest release of Map Suite Desktop Edition 3.0?  If so, can you provide a code example?

 Thanks for your interests in MapSuite Destkop product. 
  
 Currently, the ArcSDE is being developed as a extra extension for MapSuite. Now it can the basic functionality to read while some bugs related with stababily and memory leak stop us from public releasing it.
