Did something happen to the base map source? Google in Layer Overlay? As of yesterday it stopped loading completely (see the top and sides of the map).
The screenshot below is from my production server where the code has not changed in several weeks and it used to work fine. That leads me to thinking that something must have changed on your end (or Googles).
