Does Map Suite read GeoTIFF metadata or do I need a world file?

I have a collection of GeoTiff images and would like to know if Map Suite can read the metadata for them?


I know that Map Suite can display GeoTiffs but I have not seen a definitive answer on if Map Suite reads the georeferencing information from the GeoTiff (.tiff) file or if it requires a seperate world file.

Thanks for your post and questions.
 
As far as I know, there are two types of tiff files; One is not containing the georeferencing information and the other containing the georeferencing information in its self. For the first one, we always need a separate world file or a specified extent to indicate its world extent, for the other one, we do not need a separate world file.

 Do you know of a way to determine if a TIFF is infact a GeoTiff using Map Suite?  
 Does Map Suite have a way to read and output a GeoTiff’s metadata?

I am sorry to say that we did not have this kind of APIs provided yet. If you want, you could send us the tiff file which contains the geo referencing information itself, we can try to help you do some tests against it using the managed code developed recently. If possible, you could contact our support (support@thinkgeo.com) to see how to upload the file.
