I am getting the following error when using the example: Samples/Mapshapes/DrawEditShapes.aspx. This occurs when I click on any of the shapes.

I think you are visiting the sample with IE8, and it’s a known bug in web edition. Here are two solutions for you temporary; one is to delete the DOCTYPE in your ASPX page while another one is viewing the map with compatible mode.
