Hi,
we plan to support ECW images read/write in our product.
we did contact Erdas to get the SDK licence to be able to write, this license request that we support ECWP (erdas WMS)
- Can you confirm that MS 5.5 does not support ECW write operation and we need to use Erdas SDK ?
- Does MS 5.5 support ECWP as tiling source ?

Thanks for your question! We just recently updated our MrSid and ECW support to version 8.0 and 4.2 respectively.

Thus for ECW we have support at the ECW sdk level for ECWP as this is included with the 4.2 version but I am not aware of any changes to our API that would enable specific support for ECWP.
I will check with our development team members to see if perhaps this support was added and not mentioned. :)
To my knowledge we only updated to 'ERDAS ECW/JP2 SDK Desktop Read-Only' free sdk so we only have read support.
To quote ERDAS "The 'ERDAS ECW/JP2 SDK Desktop Read-Write' or 'ERDAS ECW/JP2 SDK Server Read-Write' sdks would be necessary for compressing images into the ECW and JPEG2000 formats."
