Fuzzy lines when rendering shape

Hi,

I’m loading a shape file which is in the North_America_Lambert_Conformal_Conic CRS (EPSG:1002009) and the lines are not straight and it seems a bit fuzzy. By. I set the projection on the shape layer to the proj4 string +proj=lcc +lat_1=20 +lat_2=60 +lat_0=40 +lon_0=-96 +x_0=0 +y_0=0 +datum=NAD83 +units=m +no_defs which I am getting from QGIS for that particular CRS. It loads fine but looks a lot less smooth than when I load the same file using that CRS in QGIS. Any idea why the ThinkGeo shape layer looks like this?

ThinkGeo:

QGIS:

I’ve attached a zip file with the shape file and associated files. This shape file is already in the correct projection.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Kevin,

Usually we can change the DrawingQuality property of overlay to get the high quality. But I changed this property and still can’t get the same experience as QGIS, but a bit better than default. I compared the result with Global Mapper, TatukGIS and other tools, all of them got the same result as ours(WPF Desktop Edition), but when I zoom in to same extent and I found that we get the same result as QGIS. So I guess maybe the QGIS handles the data during the rendering process.

Following is the screenshot shows the result between WPF Edition and QGIS at some zoom level.

Thanks,
Peter

HI Peter,

Thanks for the explanation. I changed the DrawingQuality and that improved things.

Best,

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Very glad to hear it’s helpful.
