How to create Heat maps

How do I create heat maps in wpf. sample given in the installer is using some grd (phvalues.grd) file. How do I create this on fly ?are there any other ways to create heat maps like zed graph etc ?

   I wanted to followup on this and let you know we are very close to releasing a HeatStyle that will render heat maps on the fly and very quickly.  The grid explanation above is good if you want to do programmatic analysis however if you just want to visualize the heat map then the new way is much faster.
