I was just asked if ThinkGeo supports elevation data. I saw at least one sample application that showed an elevation layer, but I wonder if there is more that I should take a look at. I'm not really sure where to start. They mentioned DTED data, but I'm not sure, exactly, what format the data will be in yet.
Does ThinkGeo support advanced terrain functions, such as, being able to get the shortest distance, over land, between two points, given the elevation data?

Sorry to say, we don’t have the API which can get the elevation from a file, we just provide the methods to get the common information from satellite image, such as Width, Height which suitable for any images, but elevation is very special, the normal image doesn’t have this attribute. Could you please show me the sample’s address that I can check it?
And in our How Do I Samples, we have “Find the shortest line between two feature”, if you want to get the distance, we have Routing product that can help you do that, you can download Routing HowDoISamples to have a look at.

I was wrong. It wasn't an elevation sample. It just looked like it. It was really about Isolines.

On this page, it suggests that ThinkGeo can handle some forms of digital elevation data. Is there just a limit to what can be done with it?

Thanks for your further information, our mapsuite use fdo as extension to load .dem data, the Fdo extension is based on a third-party open-source code library, you may experience unexpected issues beyond our map control when using the .dem file data format, and I am not 100 percent sure it’s working for your data.
