We have just unveiled Release Candidate 2 of Map Suite Desktop Edition, which includes a number of fixes, changes and adjustments aimed at making your Map Suite development swifter and easier. We've listened to your input following our recent beta refreshes of the Desktop Edition and have made changes that we feel will improve the development experience for all of you.
To summarize the improvements in RC2:
- Set the default threading mode to single threaded on MapControl.
- Turned off the tile caches by default.
- Turned off the preview by default.
- Exposed the TileCache property on Overlay Class.
- Exposed the PreviewTileCache property on Overlay Class.
- Added a SessionFileBitmapTileCache.
- Added DrawPreview and DrawPreviewCore methods on Overlay Class.
- Added Refresh(Overlay) and Refresh(IEnumerable[Overlay]) as additional refresh overloads for refreshing on MapControl.
- Added the IsBase property on overlays and set the default value to false (only start to draw until mouse up).
- Set the IsBase property to true by default for BackgroundOverlay and AdornmentOverlay.
- Fixed issue where the map displays incorrectly when changing extent as well as some overlays being locked.
- Fixed issue with file duplication on the TrackEnded event.
- Fixed issue with SizeChange for the WPF control.
- Fixed issue when setting cancel to true in the EditOverlay_FeatureDragging event.
- Fixed issue when using GetLineOnALine.
- Fixed issue where the ScaleBarAdornmentLayer throws an exception when panning right out of world.

To update your evaluation edition, simply download and install a new copy from our Evaluation Downloads page. If you've purchased Map Suite Desktop Edition, login to the Customer Portal to download an updated copy.
