It’s Finally Here!
It turns out that December 2012 didn’t deliver the Mayan Apocalypse — it delivered the Map Suite GIS Editor. That’s right: The initial public beta of the GIS Editor is now available for immediate download!
The Map Suite GIS Editor for Windows lets you design stunning maps, perform geo-analysis and visualize your data. Powerful enough for professional GIS technicians yet accessible enough for nearly anyone who needs to create a map, the GIS Editor is designed as a single-application solution to all of your GIS visualization needs. For anyone who has struggled with the complexity of GIS systems like ESRI® ArcGIS suite or MapInfo, we created the Map Suite GIS Editor to be any easy and accessible alternative.
You Can Use the Map Suite GIS Editor to:
- Visualize data, statistics and trends geographically
- Design, style and label rich and detailed maps
- Integrate data from a variety of sources, including Web Map Services
- Draw right on the map, edit and create feature data
- Make your maps publication-ready with titles, legends and annotations

Try It Free, Get Started Fast
Download the GIS Editor now and start using it for free, with full access to every powerful feature. At the conclusion of your evaluation period, you can upgrade to a full subscription right from within the application itself. All you need is your free ThinkGeo account – the same one you use to post here in the forums. If you don’t have one yet, you can sign up right from within the GIS Editor.
To help you get up and running, we’ve created the GIS Editor Wiki: an evolving and growing guide to using, expanding and getting the most from the GIS Editor. We’ve even posted over 50 videos showing you how to use all the key features of the Editor.
By far the best way to see some examples of what the GIS Editor can do is to download our Sample Projects, which illustrate everything from styling across zoom levels and adding legends to presenting data thematically and using GRIDs. We’ll be adding more sample projects in the coming weeks.
Let Us Know What You Think
As you start using the GIS Editor, we welcome your feedback in our GIS Editor Discussion Forum. As the GIS Editor is still in beta, this is a great chance for you to provide your impressions, request enhancements or suggest ideas for improvements. You can also request new features directly through our Enhancement Tracker. If you do, don’t forget to vote for the enhancements you want to see!
The GIS Editor has been a long time coming and we’re excited to finally share it with you. We hope to continue expanding and improving the Editor to make it one of the easiest-to-use GIS products on the market. As always, feel free to let us know your thoughts along the way; our users’ experiences are the driving force behind our development.
Thanks for choosing Map Suite,
