Hello,
We have an application using MapSuite Desktop edition v. 6.0.372.0.
As map layer we use Map Suite World Data.
We have one customer that cannot see the map layer nor additional layers, it’s all blue. When moving mouse in the map area, we see that the coordinates are changing.
The application is running from a mapped network drive. The MapSuite and World Data files also resides in this mapped network drive.
Other customers have not complained about this, and other customers are running the application both locally and from a mapped network drive.
Because of this, we think it must be “something strange” with the customer’s computer confifuration. Have you heard of issues like this before, and do you have any suggestions to a solution?
Thanks.
Kind Regards,
Kristian Gøbel
MapView is blank / blue for one customer
Hi Kristian,
I am sorry 6.0 is too early version, so we can just guess what happened in your customer’s machine.
I want to make sure some questions as below:
1. Whether your customer use the same render logic just like other customers? If not, that’s maybe a projection issue, you can see whether the coordinate is a correct value when you move mouse.
2. Does the customer get tiles from server or get data from server when render map? I remembered our 6.0 render blue as background for whole map, so if your map keep blue, maybe it met a network issue.
Wish that’s helpful.
Regards,
Don
Thanks Don,
I’m not 100% sure of what you mean…
1. It’s the same application as all our customers use, so yes it’s the same “logic” as all customers.
2. It’s an offline application, using the Map Suite World Data to render the map. It is located in a sub folder of the application, so as long as the user has access to the application itself, they also have access to the map data. So it cannot be a network issue. That said, user has also tried to copy the application to a local folder on the computer, still same issue.
I could add a screen shot, but I don’t find how to do that in the forum.

Hi Kristian,
You can click “Add Reply” button for reply post, which can support upload attachment include image.
It looks your user use the correct render code to render a local data, and it won’t shows anything, that’s very strange.
I think maybe you should want to did a simple test sample with data, then put the sample in your user’s environment to see whether it can render shape correct.
If the sample still have this issue, please check whether user’s machine miss any dll.

Don
Hello, and thanks again.
Well, that’s kind of what I was wondering… If you have had similar issues before, and if you know of any system requirements (dll’s) that can cause this or any special permissions or anything. I have checked that they have all required files / dll’s in correct versions in our applications folder.
Attached a screen shot of how it looks on customer’s computer and how it’s supposed to look like.

Strange file attachment solution… :-/
Here they are (I think…)
Hi Kristian,
As below is some guess from our developers, we wish they can be helpful:
1. What’s the culture, including Text Format in your user’s machine? Does that the same with yours?
2. Where the data (Shape files) locate? If your user install your application in a very deep directory, thus the file path name is longer than the limit, which maybe cause unknown issue.
3. You can create a demo, for example, the demo to load only one very simple shape file, like country, and then try running it on user’s machine to see if everything is works well.

Don
