MVC Edition 8.0 Azure deployment

Hi ThinkGeo,



We recently purchased your MapSuite Edition for MVC v8.0 and are seeing the ‘Unlicensed For Runtime’ watermark on our maps on our web servers.   I’ve looked on your Wiki and found that I need to install the Map Suite Production Server License tool.   I’ve downloaded that, but our web servers are in Windows Azure, so there is not a way to run this tool on our web servers.    I have found on your site under the Map Suite MVC Edition the Azure Deployment Guide, however that documents how to deploy version 7.0, not 8.0.    Are there any specific instructions for installing MVC Edition 8.0 in Azure?  If not, would you provide the steps if they differ from installing version 7.0?



Also, we have a QA server, a DEMO server, and eventually a farm of production servers.  The application is an Azure Web Application not an Azure Cloud Service with a web role.   How would you recommend deploying the licenses for QA, Demo, and our production farm?

Welcome to Map Suite discuss forums and thanks for
your post.



As for the first question, we need to do some
modification on the azure deployment tools, and maybe these stuff will be done
in a few days. Would you mind waiting for some days if this is not that
urgent for you guys?


As for the second
question, sorry to say we don’t have much experience on Azure Web Application,
so we will do some research on this. In my opinion, an unlimited server
license is optional if you won't debug the appliction on these non-development machine. Anyway, we will update here once we get any progress.

 Thanks for replying.  We are actually pushing to production today.  I think we will have limited users this week, so there will be limited users seeing the “unlicensed for runtime” message.    So we are in a spot where it will be ‘ok’ to wait for a few days while you get this figured out.  I’m happy to assist if you want us to test out and validate your instructions if necessary.

Hi Bob,



The only changes for deploying application to Windows Azure using 8.0 is changing the following items to correct versions:



1. Setup Unmanaged Dependencies *.0.*.*.msi (Which can be available in the installation folder of Map Suite Product Center.)

2. MapSuiteWebServerAzureInstaller.exe.  (Please ask support@thinkgeo.com for the 8.0 MvcEdition version.)



Just as mentioned, we just have the experience of deploying application as Azure Cloud Service as a web role, but an Azure Web Application, could you please have some try, if any problems or questions please feel free to let us know?
