Hi -
Are there any plans to support the .Net 4.0 Framework in the near future? The latest version of one of the 3rd party MVVM libraries I was hoping to use requires it, and it doesn't seem to want to coexist in the same project as MapSuite WPF.

You can run Map Suite WPF Desktop edition with Visual Studio 2010 and the .Net Framework 4.0. I think that you can also use it with the MVVM (Model View ViewModel) architecture. Please check out those posts, I think it should help you:

You can target the 4.0 framework and still use our controls. One issue might be that VS2010 defaults to the Client Profile framework which is a subset of the main 4.0 framework. We do not support this at the moment because the Client Profile does not support Oracle and we have a dependency on that. In a future version we are going to break Oracle out as an extension and then we can support it. The issue is easy to fix, just target the full 4.0 framework and the issue is resolved. The Client Profile was create to make the framework distribution package smaller and it leaves out all the ASP.NET stuff and Oracle. It sucks that MS decided to default VS2010 to that and thereby breaking many libraries that have dependencies on Oracle. I’m not sure why they broke oracle out as Oracle can be called by clients, maybe it was a license issue.

Don’t feel bad, it threw us for a loop as well when we first installed VS2010. With our November 1st release we will be able to target it right our of the box. Let us know if you have any more questions. :-)
