Problems with GdalRasterLayer and National Imagery Transmission Format (NITF) files

I have a number of National Imagery Transmission Format (NITF) files I’m trying to load as GdalRasterLayer objects in MapSuite 7.0 and receive the following exception when trying to open:



"Exception has been thrown by a target of an invocation."



Using the GDAL utility gdal_translate I can translate the NITF files to GeoTiffs and load as GeoTiffRasterLayer objects with no problems.  However, I do not consider this a good solution, as the translation to GeoTiff increases the file size by 10.

 Thanks for your post, we tried to find NITF type file to test, but it seems a little hard to find one, would you please provide us your file to check what we could do.
