Satellite Image Not Opening

Hi ThinkGeo Team,


I have two sets of satellite image which are in tif format (i.e. *.tif). Both sets are opening well in both ArcMap and MapInfo. One set is opening well from my web application using map suite tools and MapSuiteExplorer. Another set is not opening at all from both my application and MapSuiteExplorer. Can you please advise me on what things to watch out on the set which is not opening.

 Can you try setting the “LibraryType” to “UnmanagedLibTiff” to load it again? If it still runs into failure, is it possible to give us a demo image for test?

Thank you for the reply. The image has size of 1.07GB. Can you give me an FTP site or any other means I can use to upload it to you?

Can you provide any additional information about the Tiff that will not open? 

Do you have a world file for this Tiff? If not, depending on the version of the Tiff, Map Suite may not know where to locate the image on a map.


Here are the steps I would recommend:



        
  1. Check with your data supplier to see if the Tiff images you are using are GeoTiffs. If so then you might not need world files for each of your images.

    2.     
  2. If they are not GeoTiffs then you must have a world file for each of your images. A world file tells Map Suite where to locate the image on a map. This file will have the same name as your Tiff image but with a .tfw extension. Here is a link that explains the world file and how to create one.
