Setting a "transparent" color on imagery

We use NAIP imagery, and the image has black edges.   We need those edges to be transparent.   What is the setting to make that happen?    And sometimes, the black is really a mottled "near black".  Does the setting provide for a collection or range of transparent colors?


I've attached screen shot of the default behavior.

Ahhh... now I see the KeyColor property.    That appears to be the color that should be transparent.   That works pretty well.   However, I've attached a screen shot after this color is set to black.   As you can see, near the actual image, the black was not really black.   On the COM GIS package I'm migrating from, we could set an array of colors, or a range of colors.   Any chance we can get that enhancement in the future?


Oh... this is a JPeg2000 image.   Mr SID imagery is even worse.

 It is very clear to me too set an array of colors, but seems not very clear when setting a range of colors. For example: 
 Color1: R 200   G 100    B 100 
 Color2: R 100   G 200    B 200 
  
 What do you think the logic to calculate the range of the colors? 
  
 I have added this enhancement (adding an array of colors or a range of colors) to our working tracking system; hopefully we can get it in future.

I believe it needs to be an array of colors.   Range would be too cumbersome.

 I would be happy to test an intermediate build, when it becomes convenient, but do not jump through any hoops to get one published.
