Is there a way to use Virtual Earth (Bing) maps as a source in the Desktop Edition?
I found examples and the API (VirtualEarthOverla) in the Web Edition. However I can't find anything similar for the Desktop Edition.

I found the "<installpath>\Developer Reference\Spatial Extensions\MicrosoftMaps Extension\MicrosoftMapLayerExtension.dll" and the "BingMapLayer" which has me in the right direction.
Is the "BingMapsTileOverlay" available to WinForms or is it only available in the WPF version?
Fourth,
BingMapsTileOverlay is only available in the Wpf version, Winforms uses BingMapLayer to access Virtual Earth (Bing) maps source. But if it’s possible we could consider add BingMapsTileOverlay to winforms as well.
Thanks

James,
That would be helpful. We have a Bing API Key (We’ve worked with Bing before). We’re researching getting a Virtual Earth account. However it seems everything is moving over to Bing.
Fourth,
Thanks for your post and feedback.
I think you still can input the account information when you are consuming the BingMapLayer as production license instead of staging license.
We will consider adding a BinMapOverlay to our Desktop Edition just like the we have done the GoogleMapsLayer and GoogleMapsOverlay as James suggested in future releases.
Any more questions please feel free to let me know.
Thanks.
