Hi Howard,
Seems that Desktop edition has a component called FdoExtension.dll that allows to load s-57 charts. Will it be included in the WPF edition?

Hi Carlos,
Yes, the FdoExtension.dll is included in WPF Edition. But it’s only included in the installation package (evaluation and full), not in the dll package (the one you can download from helpdesk.thinkgeo.com).
Hope this’ll help, and please feel free to let us know if you have other questions.
Regards,
Tsui
Hi Tsui,
Thanks, I just found it. I was looking for it in the MapSuite extensions on the web and I didn’t find it.
I have a few questions on the FdoExtension:
1) Appart of coping the libraries folder under system32, is required to register any dll?
2) How much good is the performance and stability when working with s57 (enc) charts comparared with the natively supported formats?
3) As it is based on open source libraries, I’m guessing it is free and can be distributed without a special licensing, right?
Regards,
Carlos.
Carlos,
Thanks for your post and feedback.
1) We do not need to register the DLLs as we use reflection to use them.
2) We use the third-party OGC FDO library to read the s57 data, so I think compare to the native .net support, it will be less stable. As far as I know, some of the S57 file cannot be recognized correctly up to now.
3) Yes, it can be distributed freely , the only limitation is license of our libraries. If you have problem or questions about it, please contact our support(support@thinkgeo.com) for more details.
Any more questions please feel free to let me know.
Thanks.
