Hi,
We’ve purchased a single license of both WPF and MVC map controls, and because of deployment issues, I decided to repair my installation. However, the installer doesn’t let you repair the installation as it says you have exceeded the allowed license count.
I was able to get around this by uninstalling, and reinstalling, so it isn’t currently affecting me - though it would be nice if this was fixed
Thanks,
Steve
WPF & MVC installer's repair option doesnt work correctly
Hi Steve,
Maybe there is a confusion here, as designed, the repair is also considered as another installation by us, in other words, it also need to do activation. The workaround is that you need to uninstall it and do the installation again. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Thanks,
Johnny
Hi Johnny,
A repair is only available for an existing installation (which has already been activated). If you still wish to activate an already activated install, the activation method should change to take into account that this is an existing install (that has already been activated) and that is overwriting the existing value. At the moment, there is no point having a repair option as it doesn’t work.
Thanks,
Steve
Hi Steve,
I think it makes sense, I will talk with our development team and consider how to fix it. Any progress I will update it here.
Thanks,
Johnny
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the waiting. After a long and deep discussion, I’m sorry to say that we will keep current strategy now, until we do the complete upgrade of our installation in near future, we got various ideas about this fix, but any one has some risks for us, sorry for the inconvenience. I have made this issue as the “Show Stop” priority in our internal issue system.
Thanks,
Johnny
Hi Johnnny,
Thats fine - it was more of an FYI so that you were aware of it.
Cheers,
Steve
